- Tom Koerner – manager of the Seedskadee Wildlife Refuge will be talking to the chapter about the riparian area that follows the Green River through the Seedskadee Wildlife Refuge. Tom will help us understand the importance of cottonwood trees, the pole planting project that chapter members helped with this spring and why healthy riparian areas with Cottonwood trees are so important to the terrestrial and aquatic wildlife (trout, etc) the depend on the Green River.
- Don Hartley- Communities Protecting the Green updated the chapter on the pipeline on the Green River proposals. Aaron Million is back and recently filed a new application with the SEO. There was also a recent proposal to sell water out of the Green River. The State voted that proposal down. There is another proposal from the South Metro Denver Coalition to pipe water from Flaming Gorge to an empty reservoir in south Denver to serve approximately 300,000 people. Estimated cost of the project is $2.6 billion. They are doing a feasibility study. The good news is that most similar proposals have failed, but they are keeping a close eye on it.
